Xtreme motorsports competition in Valcourt

More than 120 riders will vie for victory in close to one hundred qualifying heat and final races that will be held at the 28th running of the Grand Prix of Valcourt, presented by La Capitale General Insurance on February 19th - 21st. Over the three days of competition, Xtreme motorsports fans will find their thrills in the more than 20 classes entered in snowmobile ice oval racing, Sno-X competition, Moto-X, and ATV ice oval races. Snowmobile ice oval racers will compete in round 2 of the 2010 SMC Eastern Pro-Tour schedule, which includes the all-important Pro-Champ races, while Sno-X riders will be entering round 6 of the 2009-2010 Camoplast Championship Snocross Series at Valcourt. Historical moment in snowmobiling - 203.3 MPH Record

On September 17th, 2008 at he Val-d'Or Airport, the Lamtrac/G-Force One snowmobile made history by attaining the World Record speed of 210.3 MPH.

Less than a year later, the LamTrac/G-Force One Team were breaking records again!
On September 23rd 2009, the Lamtrac/G-Force One was given the go ahead to attempt at setting a speed record for a snowmobile at Bonneville. The record is set on the average of two runs, in each direction of a one mile distance, within two hours.

The final result, certified by FIA-FIM was an average speed of 203.3 MPH that will be in the record books forever. Indeed an amazing moment in the world of snowmobiling. [More]

Two weeks ago, after the running of the AMSOIL ISOC Pro Snocross series 4th round, Tucker Hibbert, the then leader in both Pro classes standings confirmed the expected: he was ending his winter racing season. The announcement also signified his absence at the 27th Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt scheduled for this coming weekend. As Hibbert, who had been the winner of all the races he entered up to his retirement, decided to devote his time to the preparation of his upcoming motocross campaign, it send a clear signal to his peers: the chase for the titles was reopened. A few weekends ago a crew of sledaddicts gathered again in Central Newfoundland to embark on another weekend of snowmobiling. Generally a guys weekend of sledding consists of poker, darts, watching hockey and enjoying a few cold ones in the night while we ride hard all day in search of powder and drifts.

February 6-8th 2009 was no exception. Although all the guys couldn't make it, we managed to round up enough sled carnage and got ourselves stuck pretty good to satisfy any sledaddiction. [More]
